# Addresses

> Validate and standardize a shipping address.

## `Validate_address`

Checks whether a shipping address is valid and returns a corrected, standardized version when one is available. Optionally validates the ZIP+4 extension.

* **Type:** Read-only
* **Example prompt:** *"Is 26440 La Alameda, Lake Forest, CA 92630 a valid shipping address?"*
* **Example prompt:** *"Clean up this address before we quote it."*

Validating an address does not create anything in FreightPOP. Use it before quoting or booking to catch bad ZIP codes early, which is the most common cause of a rejected rate request.
